Franck A.R. Onouviet is a Gabonese-Senegalese cinematographer and director, noticed for his poetic and immersive visual style. His work behind the camera includes Langue Maternelle, Hikikomori, and the short Wamè by Joseph Gaï Ramaka, which premiered at the 46th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and won the Student Prize in the Lab Competition.
Franck studied visual communication and fine arts before moving into documentary and other forms of visual expression. His cinematic language is deeply tied to the idea of lineage, an evolving dialogue between ancestral memory and lived experience guided by the belief that we are the sum of all who came before us and our own experiences. This philosophy informs both his cinematography and his award-winning work as a director, weaving rich, layered narratives across fiction, documentary, and experimental forms.
He is a member of UCO (United Cinematographers Organisation) and a 2024–2025 mentee of the ASC Vision mentorship program, positioning him among the most compelling emerging voices in global cinematography.
